Seedling Success
Hello All!
Most of the plants on offer were started from seed. These baby plants need some love before being planted so they will grow successfully.
After you purchase your seedling, the best practice is to “harden them off” before planting. To harden off your plants, set them outside in dappled sun for 3-4 hours/day for about 5 days. This will get them used to wind and temperature changes. Tomatoes get bumped up to larger containers until all danger of frost has passed. In Chicago, we generally wait until sometime around Mother’s Day to plant tomatoes and tender seedlings to ensure that they won’t be hurt by frost.
If you don’t have time to harden off your plants, I am happy to do this for you. Just purchase your plant, and I will give it extra love until you are ready to plant.
